I wish I had more time with her. We spent what little we had of it at a quaint coffee shop downtown. Amber has found her passion in coffee and so it seemed fitting. I am pretty proud of how the photos turned out because lifestyle photography isn’t my forte.

A portrait comes from an idea. A desire to remember. Not really the act of taking the photo but rather, the why we are taking the photo. That reason can be and is usually a very powerful one. The birth of child or the death of a loved one. One single portrait can often tell the story of a lifetime.

You don’t have to be just one thing and your portrait session should reflect that! Wear what makes you feel great, definitely your favorite jeans, but also, don’t be afraid to experiment!.. The possibilities are endless!

He was entranced and promptly proclaimed “I want to play on that stage!” after Ricky Skaggs’ last song of the night. When a neighboring concert goer said “it’s neat that you brought your boy here,” I smiled and replied, “he brought us.”

I’ve always been a lover of the moodier, more muted tones in the past but, I just can’t get over these beautiful, vibrant colors! I am not one to put myself in a box (in general) - whether in music, teaching or in this case photography editing styles, but I continue to “find myself” at every evolution…

Beauty is complex. Something that emanates from the mind. The heart. But, beauty is also brown and black.

We met on the second floor of our local library and right off the top they said the three magic words, “whatever you want.”

The best accessory you can bring to any photoshoot is a beautiful smile.

I gave myself some time before I sat down to edit. Eventually I began to smile at Mia’s smiles. I remember when she was just a tiny little middle schooler. Is she really about to graduate from high school?
