Amor al Cafe
It’s been a while, hasn’t it? As I sit here and try to write about my latest session, I’m struggling with whatever it is SquareSpace has done to better my experience. It seems like every time I try to hit the space key, it takes me to the next section instead of just giving me that one little space I am looking for. Sigh. You know what it is? I haven’t had my first cup of coffee! That must be it.
Well, it wasn’t it, but it was worth a shot (ta-da-ta-splash cymbal).
I took on a full time teaching position at an elementary school and hence my lack of activity on all things photography. Getting back to being more hands on with kids has been both beautiful and exhausting. I am truly loving it. When I get home after a day of teaching, however, my introvert-self is pretty much completely drained. Picking up my camera has been at the very back of my mind.
Opportunities to shoot have come my way but I have been very selective as to what I say yes to. With my lack of energy and desire to be in other people’s spaces, I have to be. This particular photo session actually got my heart racing a little.
Meet Amber: she is the oldest daughter of one of my dearest cousins. They live in northern Cali and so we do not get to see each other very often. This was my first opportunity to really spend some quality time with Amber, who is a connoisseur of all things coffee.
From afar, Amber seems (to me) outgoing, interesting, chill, intelligent, beautiful and interesting (again). Up close, she is all of these things and more! I was so happy to discover she is indeed an incredibly interesting human being. I would say “just like her momma,” but in truth, I very quickly began to see past the very striking physical similarities and there she was: Amber.
I wish I had more time with her. We spent what little we had of it at a quaint coffee shop downtown. Amber has found her passion in coffee and so it seemed fitting. I am pretty proud of how the photos turned out because lifestyle photography isn’t my forte.
